Senior Associate / Analyst
MDSV CAPITAL is seeking a highly motivated Venture Capital Senior Associate/Analyst for its investment team. The Senior Associate/Analyst will support all aspects of the MDSV Capital investment process, including analysis of past and current emerging manager funds and direct investments. The Venture Analyst will also be responsible for portfolio and manager analytics and in-depth market and financial diligence. The position is structured as a 2-3 year commitment with the potential to grow responsibilities into a partnership role over time. Uniquely, the role as Venture Capital Senior Associate/Analyst will provide dual exposure ( and responsibilities) across emerging manager fund analysis and early-growth stage direct investment analysis.
- The Venture Capital Senior Associate/Analyst will focus on deep historic analysis of venture capital emerging manager funds (sub $100MM funds) and their performance over the last 15 years as well as work to further refine the in-house analysis and evaluation framework for determining appropriate fund investments for MDSV Capital. MDSV Capital will be investing in 25 emerging manager funds over the next 18-24 months
- The Venture Capital Senior Associate/Analyst will also be responsible for leading the analysis and diligence efforts for “early-growth” stage technology companies, typically post Series-A companies generating $15MM in revenues or more than have a significant growth trajectory. The Venture Capital Senior Associate/Analyst will be principally responsible for developing detailed deal memo’s to support investment recommendations and present to the partnership across a vibrant pipeline of incoming prospective investment opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze large amounts of historic fund performance data to extract specific insights
- Conduct due diligence on investments in technology companies and venture funds through both primary and secondary financings.
- Provide research, modeling, and analytical support for the investment team.
- Create and maintain reports from third-party data providers such as Pitchbook along with internal proprietary data sources.
- Assist with investor relations, including the preparation of analyses for client meeting materials.
- Conduct ad hoc investment-related analysis projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience working in venture capital, investment banking, consulting, investment/asset management, PE/VC, or at a technology company. Exceptional undergraduate candidates with an orientation to venture are also encouraged to apply.
- Intellectually curious, with a strong interest in venture capital, technology, startups, and innovation.
- Strong financial analysis/modeling skills and highly proficient with Excel
- Excellent communications skills and ability to package and present his/her research & analysis to the partnership
- Intrinsically interested in technology trends and venture investing as a career
- Comfortable working as part of a small, performance-oriented team in a “very” fast-paced environment.
